When I started writing this newsletter I thought I’d keep it “simple”. I would focus on what services are out there and how to get them. You know, things like Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, etc. As time went on I realized there was nothing “simple” about any of this. Disability Planning is a maze, and without the proper context, many of my ideas for how we can make our lives better will be worthless.

Families need help, and speaking for myself, aren’t just looking for one more thing to do. We’re overwhelmed, and we’re looking for something to make our lives easier. While I can’t deliver an “Easy” button, I can and will share what has worked for me and the many families and professionals I’ve worked with since I retired from the Navy and focused on Disability Planning full-time.

Why am I capitalizing “Disability Planning”? Because it’s my mission to make it a new Category, similar to “Estate” or “Financial Planning”. It’s complicated, there are a lot of moving parts, and we need dedicated professionals to help us. One of my promises to my readers will be to not only share about organizations that I feel fall into this category but also paint a picture of how their services may positively impact your life.

Disability Planning is my full-time job. I work with families and professionals one-on-one, but there are only so many hours in a day and I can’t get the impact I want to have by doing this alone. I want to level the playing field for every family whose loved ones have disabilities. Additional free content can be found on my YouTube channel and the ABCs of Disability Planning podcast. Please check them out and, if you find the content valuable, subscribe.

I will be posting weekly, and some of those posts will only be available to paid subscribers.
