In a recent article, I shared several ways you could keep your Medicaid if you lost your Supplemental Security Income. It was only while I was doing my research that I realized the Pickle Amendment and Disabled Adult Child benefit were (2) different provisions. I’d always lumped them together because they were in the same POMS. It probably doesn’t matter most of the time, but if you’re talking to a state worker you’ll want to make sure you cite the correct provision.

So, what exactly is the Pickle Amendment, and why is it important for families with a loved one who receives Medicaid?
